MAZATLAN TO NAYARIT

If you examine your Mexican Highway Map you will see that the Mexican Highway System is quite complete, except for the next few kilometers. Interesting, and you will soon see the reason why.

It is not as much the Millions of Dollars that it costs to build the highways as it is the Billions of Pesos for all the necessary bridges.

Plan on moving slow as all the North/South traffic is funneled into just 2 lanes. Lots of places to stop. All the Restaurants are good.

You will cross the Rio Grande De Santiago on its way to the sea. This is the River that was damned to create my (and yours?) recently expanded playground at Agua Milpa.

The 2 lane road turns to 4 lane (cuota) at the turn-off to San Blas. Right to San Blas. Straight ahead to Tepic.

YO! NAFTA and now CAFTA call for a continuous four-lane roadway from Alaska to Panama. Route #2 to ‘my playground’ is this route known as the CANAMEX CORRIDOR. Or, as I think of it, “The Flat Way.” You are on it now as you turned south on Highway 15.

When you see "Butt Rock" on your right headed south, you will know you are almost to the border of Nayarit.

YO! Every year I continue to be amazed at the incredible natural beauty of Nayarit. You will see many beautiful sites as you travel through Sonora and Sinaloa but as you enter Nayarit the Beauty surrounds you in every direction, over every hill and around every curve. And, that is without leaving the highway!

The Capital of Nayarit is Tepic where it is still possible to walk for days without seeing another gringo. Interesting Museums. Fabulous Parks. Incredible shopping!  Wonderful People!

Weather from November thru April is as eternal springtime with 85 degree days and 60 degree nights. Perfect.

Flying into Puerto Vallarta will bring you about 2 hours south of my playground.
